Here’s Our Top 5 Home Staging Tips for The Fall

As the weather begins to change, and our days get shorter it’s easy to see that fall is on its way. Fall is an extremely busy time of year for everyone and add to that the pressure of preparing your home to sell, it can be very overwhelming. Here are our top 5 tips for staging your home properly for a fall sale.

Bring the colours in.

In the fall in Toronto, our nights are cool, and it can be difficult to keep up the bright and cheery appearance outdoors. Add the deep, rich colours of fall to the interior of your home during the season. Utilize some small pumpkins as a centerpiece or focal point in a room, place an arrangement of red, orange and yellow flowers on your table and add cozy throw blankets to the back of your couch or the reading chair in your study.

Focus on the scents and flavors.

Popular scents of fall include cinnamon, apples, ginger and nutmeg. Utilize these scents in your home to really make it feel like a cozy autumn day indoors. Scents stimulate the senses and make potential buyers feel welcome when viewing your home.

Less is always more.

If your home is for sale around Thanksgiving or Halloween, keep your decorations to a minimum even if you typically go all out. If you decorate indoors as well, be sure not to over clutter your rooms with decorations, as clutter will make your home appear smaller than it is. Decorated homes can be charming; however, you need balance so potential buyers can see themselves living in it year-round.

Highlight your fireplace.

If your home has a fireplace, now is the time to have it stand out as a focal point. With the chill in the fall air, people will be attracted to the warmth of a fireplace. You can easily draw attention to your fireplace by adding some unique artwork, a plant or some other small décor items to your mantel.

Bring on the light.

The days are only getting shorter which means your home is going to feel darker more of the time. On top of that in the fall the natural light is less abundant, so utilizing the sources you have is going to be a necessary part of showing your home's true potential. Well lit homes are welcoming and give a feeling of warmth.
